Buffets!

Buffets are not just for the formal dining room anymore. Recently I moved a buffet from the dining room into the main floor bathroom. Now I really love this newly purposed piece, it's great for storage and what a great roomy surface I have. Even though our bathroom is large, we only have a pedestal sink (it's an 99 yr. old house) so having counter space in a bathroom is really nice. I think buffets in bedrooms make great storage as well as in family rooms (use to hold games, toys) and in the living room set a flat screen tv onto the buffet as an entertainment center. The drawers and cabinets can hold all those DVD movies, blankets, etc.. In the kitchen, the buffet can be transformed into a island by removing the top of the buffet and replacing with a piece of granite. The buffet shown in the photo is one I acquired recently. I painted it black and added new knobs. I chose not to paint the wood top as the grain in the wood was just too pretty. I do have the cabinets doors to go with this buffet, but my customers tell me they like them off. At least when the buffet does sell I will have the doors too. Normally, I will distress a piece like this, but I just like the nice clean look that this one has so chose just paint and leave alone. For the top, I always add the Howard Product Paste Wax to the wood surface; one or two coats really helps.
